Do you feel stressed? Are you struggling with a quick temper and finding it hard to see humor in your life? You could be low in magnesium, the mineral that is known for creating calm. Studies show that around 80% of us are! To combat the nasty symptoms of magnesium deficiency, try this therapeutic, detoxifying and inexpensive way to get your magnesium levels up by taking regular Epsom salt baths. I like to combine my magnesium bath with baking soda, as it enhances the detoxification process.

For a truly therapeutic level, add two pounds of Epsom salt and two pounds of baking soda to a tub of very warm water. I like to add a few drops of my favorite essential oil, too. Soak for at least 20 minutes. You will find your skin exfoliates, and callouses on your feet and hands will dissolve over time. Magnesium is a mineral responsible for releasing muscle contractions, so this bath will leave you feeling completely relaxed. I like to do this before I go to bed, as I sleep so much better.

  • 5 drops of your favorite essential oil (e.g., lemon grass, sandalwood, lavender)

* Tip: I buy a 6 lb bag of Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salt, and a 13.5 lb bag of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in bulk at Costco, for the best price.
